Horses are incredibly forgiving. They fill in places we’re not capable of filling ourselves.

  • "Tiny Tina Turner", miniature mare - GRG Ranch Animal Ambassador

“Tiny Tina” was surrendered to GRG Ranch in early April, 2022. She was found through a Craigslist ad by a caring, but inexperienced, new horse owner. Upon seeing her in a 10’×10’ stall LOADED with feces, where she lived 24 hours a day 7 days a week, she couldn't leave her there. She did everything she could for her, but knew she was in over her head, so out of love she reached out to our founder for help.

She's been steadily blossoming in her new routine! You all voted to help pick her name, which is listed on her Coggins paperwork. We had her spring vet work and her microchip done with our friends at Cleary Lake Veterinary Hospital and she was an absolute gem- you can see the video of her bravery on our Facebook page. She absolutely ADORES being groomed and getting scratches and loves. Added bonus?? This sweet girl loves to explore and get in some cardio with us!

She's still coming into her own, but watch as she continues to open up and see what lies in store for her future as the Animal Ambassador for GRG Ranch!

  • Thelma and Louise: Morgan mare and babydoll sheep

Louise (sheep half of Thelma & Louise) came o us along with her Morgan pony companion in October 2023. A long-term neglect situation, they were both covered in burrs, lacking vet work, and receiving poor nutrition. Louise, a 3 year old baby doll sheep had never been sheared OR received hoof care. Going into winter, we took off 50+ pounds of urine soaked and burr filled wool, leaving her with enough for warmth through winter.

  • Reba Mcintyre, late teens dun quarter horse mare

Reba is the sweetest and most agreeable girl. She came to us with a big knee- extensive damage and arthritis to her left front- leaving it with about 10% mobility. She also had a large puncture wound near the stifle on her rear left leg- a cough and nasal drainage. (Dec 2023).

  • Holly, late 20s quarter horse, chestnut mare

Holly came to us in March but little is known about her. She’s very sweet and very well mannered. She came to us with a BCS 1/9.

Holly is fostered near Rochester, MN

  • Trinity, late teens sorrel pinto pony mare

Trinity came to us with hose knees and some rocking arthritis. She’s shown some improvement with pain management and Cosequin ASU (joing supplement). Thankfully there was no rotation, but very flat feet so regular farrier visits will be important.

  • Esperanza, late teens red roan pony mare

She’s a shy mare who actually looks like a POA/Haflinger mare.

She had a hard working life as a camp rental pony. Her life was being hauled back and forth for years on end and working very long days for weeks on end with no breaks. She had virtually no hoof care so her work was unimaginably painful. She also tested positive for Cushings and is on a half pill of Prascend daily (approx cost $1.11/day). She does have some minor rotation froma previous bout with laminitis, but she’s done REALLY well barefoot with diet management. She’s UTD on worming, vaccines, Coggins, dental, and farrier work.

  • Freddie Mercury, aka Mr Blackburn 2310: 2023 AQHA colt

Freddie arrived at GRG Ranch in March 2024 (just shy of 1 year old) after his owners picked him up at an AQHA auction and noticed issues wit. his vision. A visit to the vet yielded a diagnosis that his pupils won’t dilate and they knew they wouldn’t be able to give him what he needed.

He’s such a sweet boy and though he’s a pretty quiet little guy, he’s adjusted well to his new surroundings.

  • Annie Oakley, approximately 15 y.o. Sorrel

Annie Oakley is origingally frm the same Carlton County humane case that brought us Miss Vicki and Lil Rita last year. She’s a beautiful and kind sorrel, and she’s learning to trust She has come a VERY long way from where she began, and she is one hell of a horse. We’re excited to be a part of her story, and we look forward to sharin hr ongoing progress with you as she makes her way towards her future.

  • Eclipse, 2009 Appaloosa Gelding

Eclipse was surrendered when his owner was no longer able to provide him with the care he needed. He had been started under saddle prior to his surrender, and received quality training over he last several weeks, however he’s still VERY insecure and can have explosive reactions. Much like Annie- this boy has a lot of trust isues and baggage to unpack. This makes for a long term rehabilitation process an absolute necessity and we’re honored to be asked to provide that for him.

  • Jake- 30 y.o. paint gelding, 15hh

Jake came to us as an owner surrender when his owner got dementia, was unable to care for him, and had to go into Assisted Living. He was fed but vet and farrier care lapsed and he was alone for several years.

Available for our Forever Foster Program

  • Summer & Blue

They are a bonded pair and can only be picked up together. They have been together over 20 years.

They are available for our Forever Foster Program.

  • Ed Sheeran "Eddie"

    Ed Sheeran "Eddie" 20's y.o. pony, 13hh

After receiving a call for hekp from the SIbley County Sheriff’s office, Eddie was brought to GRG Ranch extremely emaciated (BSC 1.5/9). His feet have been neglected for years and it’s been some time since he’s had a float. He will also need some treatment for the infection in his eye.

He will undergo a careful diet to avoid refeeding syndrome, then visits for the farrier and vet. Stay tuned as we watch Eddie, who has a surprisingly great attitude, recover.

  • Ozzy a.k.a. Diamond Poco Champs, registered 2009 AQHA Gelding

Ozzy comes to us as an owner surrender. Much loved by his family, they were sadly another victim of unscrupulous brokers. Fearful he’d end up back in a auction and not wanting to sell him to the horse flipper they bought him from- they reached out to us for help.

Ozzy is currently staying with our friends at Diamond Hills Boarding Stable and will be available for our Forever Foster Program.

  • Duchess

Duchess comes to us as a surrender with friends (Buddy and Barbie). Their owner passed away six years ago and while they’ve been fed, farrier and vet visits have been non-existent. Stay tuned to see if they will open up for adoption pending assessments.

  • Buddy Holly, Gelding

Buddy comes to us as a surrender with friends (Duchess and Barbie). Their owner passed away six years ago and while they’ve been fed, farrier and vet visits have been non-existent. Stay tuned to see if they will open up for adoption pending assessments.

  • Barbie

Barbie comes to us as a surrender with friends (Buddy and Duchess). Their owner passed away six years ago and while they’ve been fed, farrier and vet visits have been non-existent. Stay tuned to see if they will open up for adoption pending assessments.

  • Cole, 25 year old registered Morab gelding,

This stunning boy was bred, owned, trained, and loved by the same man and his family for his entire life. And the quality of care he's gotten over the years shows. Unfortunately, time passes for all of us - and Cole's previous owner was at an age where he was no longer capable of caring for him, so he called GRG.

Cole is kind, gentle, well mannered, sound, healthy, rideable and trained under saddle, he's an easy keeper and barefoot, and he needs no supplements or medications. In short, he is a unicorn. 🦄

We're looking forward to getting to know him better and getting his riding assessment in. We have NO doubt that Cole's perfect fit is out there just waiting to start a new chapter together.

  • Billy Joel, Paso Fino

Where to start - this sweet boy is emaciated. A BCS of 2/9. Weighing in at 604 pounds, this poor little man is about 350 pounds underweight. Feet aren't horribly long, but the thrush is awful (and STINKY) and he's definitely due for a trim. Teeth - oh boy... Missing a couple, and it's been a QUITE some time since he's had a float - he has minimal grinding surface, so we'll be watching for quidding of his hay while he's rehabilitating. He'll be started on a modified refeed program - but caution and a close eye are still key.

🤢🤮 And the raging equine lice... So severe, we were able to get video of them having a dance party on Billy's whithers...

Such a big day for this boy yesterday. And how his life has already changed. Vaccines, Coggins, dental, sheath cleaning, exam, microchip - check. Dusted with louse powder - check. Safely settled into his quarantine pen - check. Calmly eating and drinking, decompressing from all the things has begun.

  • Large Marge

This adorable mini donkey was stealing hearts during her intake visit to Cleary Lake Veterinary Hospital Equine. Marge is a sweet, shy little one!!

We found some equine lice on this long eared little nugget. Not as severe - but they'd set up some healthy camps on her as well. She's on the opposite end of the spectrum, since donkeys get pudgy on air and she'd been regularly escaping into the neighborhood and enjoying an unlimited salad bar. So now - this little donk will be going through some big dietary changes!

Her feet are in need of some attention and her dental float was much needed - but overall seems to be a pretty healthy. She was a little leery of the needles, but she was just a brave little soldier. She's a shy, quiet, sweet, and remarkably agreeable little donk. In spite of it all.

So now, with her vaccines and dental UTD and a louse treatment under her belt, she is settling in well with Billy in quarantine and taking in all the BIG changes to their lives now that they're a part of the GRG Ranch family.
