Mr. Bean has been trained under saddle since arriving at GRG, and today he’s appropriate for an intermediate rider to be his trail partner - or maybe some low level dressage or flatwork in the arena? He is a beautiful mover. He’s a sweet, goofy gelding with very good ground manners. Easy to catch, ties, loads, clips and is good for the vet and farrier.
Mr. Bean’s history:
This is just a fraction of the story of how Mr. Bean, aka Captured by Fate, came to GRG Ranch. Mr. Bean was previously known as North, and before that he was called Maddox. In May of 2023, with no record of his whereabouts following his last race on Sept 22nd, 2022 in West Virginia, he reappeared in southern Minnesota and was sold as kid safe for a little girl, and her family was sold nothing but lies with no concern at all for what that might mean for Mr. Bean.
You see, he had not been retrained after his racing career ended. They were told he was used in the seller’s lesson program, that he was beginner safe and used for children. As it turns out, the seller didn't even offer these services. Not only that, it turns out she doesn't have the facilities to do so. And then when he was sent out to actually receive the training he was said to already have, an intermittent lameness became evident.
For months, this family did everything they could do in an attempt to make it work. They loved their boy, and he was that sweet little girl’s dream horse. But as time went on and the bills mounted, it became increasingly evident that they just couldn't afford to give him what he needs, and he was too much horse for them. Heartbroken, they reached out to GRG Ranch Horse Rescue & Sanctuary to offer Mr. Bean his best chance at a full and happy future.
Note: All horses at GRG are microchipped, on a regular schedule of appropriate vaccinations, Coggins, deworming, feet trimming and dental work as advised by the veterinarians we work with. Horses who come to us with special medical, hoof care, or other needs get the diagnostic workup necessary to get them healthy and comfortable. Vet records, x-rays available upon request. Pre-purchase exams are welcome and encouraged (by your veterinarian, at your cost).
